Description

This is an easy casual walk which will take us from Blackwater Bridge on the Kerry Way out to Dromore Castle and we will return back to Blackwater Bridge following mostly the way we went out.

Photos From The Day

With views across Coongar Harbour and Drongawn Lough we will make our way through a wooded section to where the views open out across the stunning Kenmare River. Hopefully we may see dolphins playing in the river.

Dromore Castle was originally built in the early 19th century by Denis Mahony. It was abandoned after a family tragedy, until work started again in the 1830’s.

The castle has changed hands several times and was more recently renovated to replicate some old castle styles.

With all advertised walks please bear in mind that these can change at short notice due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Meeting point for these walks (unless otherwise noted) is outside Dan Murphy’s Bar in Sneem at 10AM. Please ensure that you are registered on the Sneem Walking Club’s Whatsapp Group for updates. Please note that dogs are not allowed on our walks, as we walk on privately owned land with the kind permission of the owners / farmers.
