Failte! Welcome to the Sneem Walking Club (SWC), based in the “knot” of the Ring of Kerry, the picturesque village of Sneem. The club was founded in March 2004, with a membership of 22, which has since grown.
Members are affiliated to Mountaineering Ireland (MI) which provides us with the necessary insurance. The club provides members an opportunity to meet, participate and see the beauty of the southwest of Ireland while out on our walks.
We aim to walk every Sunday from January to June, and from September to December. During the summer season, several members also gather for mid-week walks. We look forward to welcoming new members on one of our walks

Visitors are welcome to walk with us on any of our walks. The club provides members and visitors an opportunity to meet, participate and see the beauty of the countryside and country we live in while out on our different walks. We look forward to meeting you on one of our walks.
Becoming a member is very easy. You simply need to provide with your personal details and pay the annual membership fee and you’re good to go. You can find out more on our membership page.
Walks from 4 – 7 hours across open mountainside with some extended periods of uphill. Experience and proper walking attire and equipment essential.
Walks from 2 – 5 hours, whilst they may mainly follow established trails, these may include steeper climbs and more challenging terrain – particularly when the A and B group walkers combine.
Boots and comfortable outdoor clothing are still required.
