consideration for the Mountains & The local community

On behalf of our local environment, those that call it home and Mountaineering Ireland (to which Sneem Walking Club is affiliated), we thank you for:

Helping to protect access and care for the places that provide us with such fantastic experiences.

We all can do this by:

When parking, leave gateways clear and leave room for wide vehicles.

Being prepared – know how to find your way and always being ready for the best and worst of weather.

Taking care to stick to established trails where possible, respecting the privacy of locals and engaging with people you meet.

Help others to appreciate how special the place is and how to minimise our impact on it.

When possible, support local shop, businesses and services.  You’ll find a lot about our Community in the Sneem Newsletter.

we all Thank you!

  • Smartphone for contact and for fantastic photos.
  • Water bottle – preferably a reusable one.

We recommend that all new Club members have their initial walk with the Sneem B Group. This will allow new member to meet exisiting members on a shorter, less demanding walk and for the Walk Leader to assess the ability of the new member to participate in more challenging A Group Walks.

Prospective members are welcome to join a Group B Walk as a visitor. Mountaineering Ireland provides insurance cover for anyone participating in a pre-membership trial walk.

Sneem Walking Club Members usually meet outside Murphy’s Bar in Sneem village before the walk (mostly Sunday mornings at 10 am). The walk leaders will organise car pooling, if required, to the start/end of the walk. All members must ensure they have suitable walking clothing and equipment and sufficient water and food for the walk.
