Description

On this 12 km walk we will follow the Kerry Way to take in some stunning views as we walk the waymarked Kerry Way section from Waterville to Caherdaniel.

Photos From The Day

This is a moderate walk rising to 320 metres on the lovely Kerry Way section between Waterville and Cahirdaniel. To reduce some of the road walking we will start at the layby near to Hogs Head golf course Waterville (after leaving a car/s at The Blind Piper Caherdaniel).

We will follow a quiet back road and then climb over a stile on to an old green road which climbs around 170m. Loher stone fort is the most prominent of the old stone forts on this section and sometimes, if we are lucky, we will see pine martin.

We will cross the main Ring of Kerry Road on to a trail that threads between Farraniaragh and Beenarouke. New panoramic scenes unfold with views of Derrynane Bay, Lambs Head and islands such as Deenish and Scariff. After crossing the main road again we will wind our way down and along more trails, finally through a native forest to reach the road leading to The Blind Piper.

With all advertised walks please bear in mind that these can change at short notice due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Meeting point for these walks (unless otherwise noted) is outside Dan Murphy’s Bar in Sneem at 10AM. Please ensure that you are registered on the Sneem Walking Club’s Whatsapp Group for updates. Please note that dogs are not allowed on our walks, as we walk on privately owned land with the kind permission of the owners / farmers.
