Unleashing our Inner Explorers

The recent Sneem Walking Weekend (October 4th-6th) attracted walkers from across Ireland to experience the breathtaking beauty of Sneem and its surrounding landscapes.

Organized by the Sneem Walking Club, the event offered a unique blend of guided walks, social gatherings, and an opportunity to immerse oneself in the warm hospitality of the village.

The weekend kicked off on Friday evening with a captivating sunset walk on the Lománagh Loop. As dusk settled, headlamps illuminated the path, creating a truly magical experience.

The walk culminated at D. O’Shea’s pub, where a delicious meal awaited the group, fostering camaraderie amongst walkers and locals alike.

While Saturday’s planned activities were unfortunately cancelled due to adverse weather, the Sneem Walking Club committee didn’t let that dampen spirits.

They quickly reorganized Sunday’s schedule, offering a variety of walks catering to different abilities. One group ascended Beann Mountain, rewarded with stunning views of The Pocket before heading to Dan Murphy’s for post-walk refreshments.

Meanwhile, other walkers explored the scenic beauty of the Kerry Way. One group ventured to Glashnacree, stopping for a scenic break at Parknasilla Golf Club, while another traversed the path towards Caherdaniel, enjoying a well-deserved rest at the Blind Piper pub.

The event wasn’t just about the walks themselves. Visitors had the opportunity to wander along the captivating Sneem Sculpture Trail, further immersing themselves in the spirit of the village.
