Gortagowen Hills and Coad – 12 Nov ’23
Sneem Walking Club on Knocknagullion

Our Sneem Walkers relish days like this, when you can see for miles and bask in the beauty around Sneem.

A great day out today in the Sneem hinterland with both A and B walks enjoying good company, quality walks and fab views.

The day’s A Walk took place in the heights above Gortagowen, following a loop from Blackwater Bridge which took in the 411m high Knocknagullion mountain summit. This walk had a good turnout and was enjoyed by all.

The B Walk followed a section of the upper, inland Kerry Way towards Waterville as far as the Windy Gap. Here they enjoyed great views of the extensive Dunkerron ridge to the east and Loch na nGrág below to the north. The walk visited the wells of Saint Crohán.

Well done to everyone who pulled on their boots for a day in the hills.

With all advertised walks please bear in mind that these can change at short notice due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Meeting point for these walks (unless otherwise noted) is outside Dan Murphy’s Bar in Sneem at 10AM. Please ensure that you are registered on the Sneem Walking Club’s Whatsapp Group for updates. Please note that dogs are not allowed on our walks, as we walk on privately owned land with the kind permission of the owners / farmers.
