  • Walkers can expect open mountainside, long grass, broken ground, exposed heights and extended periods of ascents.

Requirements

  • Well-soled waterproof walking boots, comfortable outdoor clothes with extra warm layers in a backback with sufficient water, food and/or snacks.

Description

Knockatee is a mountain on the Beara Peninsula overlooking Kenmare Bay and Kilmackilogue harbour.

This walk is about 1 hour ascent and another hour down. Maximun elevation of 350m.

We will park a car at Bar in Killmacalogue, which will cut the road walking to 25mins. We can have lunch/ refreshments in the Bar afterwards.

With all advertised walks please bear in mind that these can change at short notice due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Meeting point for these walks (unless otherwise noted) is outside Dan Murphy’s Bar in Sneem at 10AM. Please ensure that you are registered on the Sneem Walking Club’s Whatsapp Group for updates. Please note that dogs are not allowed on our walks, as we walk on privately owned land with the kind permission of the owners / farmers.
