Pictures From The Day

Hoggs Head Loop: A-Walk

This walk is one for a fine day only and is rated as strenuous. Those joining us for this A Walk, will start walking from the car park at Coomakista overlooking Derrynane on one side and Waterville on the other. To get the best 360 degree panoramic sea views we’ll be going up onto the ridge above the car park.

The Hoggs Head Loop is one that we’ve been waiting some time to do. On a number of occasions we’ve had to postpone this walk on the edge of the Atlantic due to cloudy, wet and poor visibility conditions. We’re hopeful we’ll be able to proceed as planned this Sunday.

The Hoggs Head Loop is a challenging 13 KM strenuous walk with 500+ metres of ascent and 500+ metres of descent. The route takes us form the heights above Coomakista to the waters edge at Hoggs Head before we loop around onto the Kerry Way and back to Coomakista.

Waterville or Caherdaniel to Coomakista on the Kerry Way: B-Walk

Those doing the B-Walk will leave Sneem at the same time and direction as those doing the A-Walk. The B-Walk will follow a section of the Kerry Way with the option of walking from Caherdaniel to Coomakista or Waterville to Coomakista. These walks will take circa 3.5 hrs and are graded easy to moderate with some ascents involved. Whichever walk the group does, you can be assured of an enjoyable walk with spectacular views and local history too.

Meet in Sneem outside Dan Murphy’s Bar for 10 AM as usual, when we will decide transport from there.

With all advertised walks please bear in mind that these can change at short notice due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Meeting point for these walks (unless otherwise noted) is outside Dan Murphy’s Bar in Sneem at 10AM. Please ensure that you are registered on the Sneem Walking Club’s Whatsapp Group for updates. Please note that dogs are not allowed on our walks, as we walk on privately owned land with the kind permission of the owners / farmers.
