Description

On this 7.5KM moderately difficult coastal walking loop we will take in fantastic views across the Wild Atlantic to the Skelligs and Puffin Island whilst tackling some moderately challenging ascents and descents on uneven tracks on this waymarked walk.

Photos From The Day

This beautiful walk starts from the car park at the monument (Dullcalla, Ballinskelligs) to the American Liberator, which crashed off the Skelligs in 1944. The start of the walk on a minor road, leads on to tracks and ultimately rougher ground following waymark arrows, through gates, over styles and streams and along the slopes of the Bolus Mountain.

The cliff walk is quite close to the edge where we will exercise great care as we take the steep ascent up to the old barracks/ Napoleonic Tower. At the top here we will get great views back to the Skelligs and 360 Degree views of the Atlantic.

If we are lucky, we many get to see dolphins or basking sharks.

Dogs are not allowed on this walk.

With all advertised walks please bear in mind that these can change at short notice due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Meeting point for these walks (unless otherwise noted) is outside Dan Murphy’s Bar in Sneem at 10AM. Please ensure that you are registered on the Sneem Walking Club’s Whatsapp Group for updates. Please note that dogs are not allowed on our walks, as we walk on privately owned land with the kind permission of the owners / farmers.
